Consensus Arrangement: Minimum Interest Rates
|Relatively Rich Countries (Category I)||Intermediate Countries (Category II)||Relatively Poor Countries (Category III)|
Situation as of June 1987. In July 1988 the system will be amended as follows: (a) minimum rates for Category I countries will be eliminated; (b) the margins for calculating minimum rates for Category II countries will be increased from 75 basis points to 105 basis points in the maturity range of 2–5 years, and from 125 basis points to 155 basis points in the maturity range of 5–8½ years; (c) the margin for calculating minimum rates for countries in Category III will be increased from a discount of 10 basis points to a surcharge of 20 basis points in the maturity range of 2–10 years. The basis for calculating minimum interest rates is the weighted average of the long-term government bond yields for the five SDR currencies.
Available only for countries that were classified in Category III before July 6, 1982.
