Abstract
The Annual Report of the IMF Committee on Balance of Payments Statistics (Committee) for 2010 provides an overview of recent trends in global balance of payments and international investment position (IIP) statistics, including the latest developments in data from the Coordinated Portfolio Investment Survey (CPIS). Furthermore, the report summarizes the Committee’s work program during 2010, and reviews the issues the Committee plans to address in the coming year.

The BOPS Yearbook, usually published in December, contains balance of payments statistics for most of the world, compiled in accordance with the IMF’s Balance of Payments Manual. Part 1 includes aggregate as well as detailed information in the form of analytical and standard component presentations for countries. Part 2 provides tables of data, featuring area and world totals of balance of payments components and aggregates. Part 3 presents descriptions of methodologies, compilation practices, and data sources used by individual member countries in compiling their balance of payments and international investment position statistics.

This report constitutes the annual report of the IMF Committee on Balance of Payments Statistics (Committee). The Committee, which held its annual meeting at the European Central Bank (ECB) in Frankfurt, Germany, in October 2008, was established in 1992 to improve the availability, consistency, and reliability of balance of payments and international investment position statistics worldwide. This annual report provides an overview of recent trends in balance of payments and international investment position statistics, discusses the Committee’s work program during 2008, and reviews the issues the Committee plans to address in the coming year.

Est ici présenté le rapport annuel du Comité des statistiques de la balance des paiements du FMI (le Comité). Créé en 1992, le Comité, qui a tenu sa réunion annuelle au siège de la Banque centrale européenne (BCE) à Francfort (Allemagne) en octobre 2007, a pour mandat d’accroître la disponibilité, la cohérence et la fiabilité des statistiques de la balance des paiements et de la position extérieure globale au niveau mondial. Ce rapport annuel donne un aperçu des récentes tendances de ces statistiques, fait le point sur l’exécution du programme de travail du Comité en 2007 et traite des questions que celui-ci se propose d’aborder dans l’année à venir.

Este es el informe anual del Comité del FMI sobre Estadísticas de Balanza de Pagos. El Comité, que celebró su reunión anual en el Banco Central Europeo (BCE) en Fráncfort, Alemania, en octubre de 2007, fue creado en 1992 para mejorar la disponibilidad, congruencia y fiabilidad de las estadísticas de balanza de pagos y de la posición de inversión internacional en todo el mundo. Aquí se presenta un panorama general de las últimas tendencias en lo que respecta a las estadísticas de la balanza de pagos y la posición de inversión internacional, se repasa el programa de trabajo que llevó a cabo el Comité en 2007, y se pasa revista a los temas que prevé abordar el año próximo.
