This Report on the Observance of Standards and Codes (ROSC) data module provides an assessment of Egypt’s macroeconomic statistics against the Special Data Dissemination Standard (SDDS) complemented by an assessment of data quality based on the IMF’s Data Quality Assessment Framework (DQAF, July 2001). The assessment reveals that against the background of economic liberalization, the Egyptian authorities have made important efforts to improve the statistics needed for developing and monitoring economic policies. There is a general awareness of the need for good quality data for these purposes.

A technical Assistance (TA) Mission was conducted by CAPTAC-DR1 from May 14 to 18, 2018 with the objective of supporting the Central Reserve Bank of El Salvador (CBR) in its efforts to strengthen its national accounts statistics for decision making. The TA mission covered the following topics: compilation of an Input-Output Table (IOT) for 2014; as well as to follow up on the recommendations made in previous TA missions to disseminate Supply and Use Tables (SUT) for 2015 and thereafter, as part of the national accounts’ series with base year 2005. In addition, the mission provided training to the Department of National Accounts (DNA) team of the CBR in the methodological and conceptual aspects necessary for the analysis and application of the IOT as a statistical and analytical tool.

The report covers national accounts, prices (consumer and producer prices), government finance, monetary, financial and international accounts (balance-of-payments and international investment position) statistics. Assessment of macroeconomic datasets was conducted using data quality assessment framework (DQAF). With the assistance of the Central Bank of Russian Federation (CBR), users’ survey was conducted. Users are satisfied with the methodological soundness, coverage, timeliness, and accessibility of official statistics, especially monetary and financial and balance of payments statistics. Based on the review, the mission has developed a set of recommendations.

The adverse impact of the crisis on Luxembourg’s growth outlook is partly mitigated by the authorities’ well-conceived fiscal policy response. The staff report for Luxembourg’s 2009 Article IV Consultation highlights economic developments and policies. It combines substantial fiscal stimulus, including subsidies aimed at stabilizing employment, with the full functioning of the automatic stabilizers. All major expenditure components of GDP are likely to be adversely affected by the financial crisis, waning confidence, and euro area recession.
