Part III provides a detailed analysis of the experiences of a broad range of countries that have liberalized their capital accounts. Nine countries chosen in this paper present different levels of economic development and diverse conditions and took various approaches to the pace and sequencing of capital account liberalization, illustrating that there is no simple rule for the sequencing and coordination of capital account liberalization with other policies. Part HI is divided into two sections; the first section discusses the experiences of countries that avoided a financial crisis and the second section the experiences of countries that faced such a crisis.
