Abstract

The expression “sovereign liquidity crisis” refers to a situation where a government is unable to service the country’s debt. Usually, and more specifically, the debt that cannot be serviced is the country’s external debt, which raises questions of applicable law because a country’s debt to its foreign creditors may be governed by foreign law or international law.
