Society for International Development

The Society for International Development (SID) is an international nonprofit organization concerned with social and economic development.

Founded in October 1957, it has now 3,800 members in 101 countries. The Society has 43 local chapters, 15 of them in Asia, 8 in Europe, 2 in Africa, 8 in Latin America, and 10 in North America.

SID members receive a quarterly professional journal, the International Development Review, a monthly newsletter, Survey of International Development, and an annual membership directory containing the full addresses of all members, cross-referenced by geographical location and organization.

The newly created SID Reference Service on Development Information provides a clearing house for inquiries from SID members on sources of materials covering every aspect of international development. A Membership Data Retrieval System has been established to make available information on the skills and experience of SID members; the System’s international roster of development specialists is now being used by public and private agencies and firms seeking development specialists with particular qualifications.

Sample copies of the Society’s publications are available upon request.
